Welcome to Inside the Old Dame’s Studio

Some things are simply too beautiful, too full of character, or too rich in possibility to leave behind.

Welcome to Inside the Old Dame’s Studio, a creative gathering place from Old Dame Designs. Here, we celebrate the charm of timeworn treasures, the joy of making something with our hands, and the magic that happens when imagination meets a little paint, paper, and patience.

Where old things find new stories

I've always been drawn to pieces with character: an old dresser waiting for another chapter, a worn frame with lovely details, or a simple wooden blank that could become something extraordinary. Sometimes all it takes is a beautiful paper, a favorite stencil, or an unexpected finishing touch to bring an idea to life.

In the studio, there is room for all kinds of creativity. You'll find furniture transformations, mixed-media art, decoupage inspiration, creative finishes, seasonal projects, and the occasional experiment that takes us somewhere unexpected.

Come behind the scenes

I'll share projects as they unfold, from the first spark of an idea to those little details that make the finished piece feel special. Expect useful tutorials, honest creative discoveries, and inspiration for using Old Dame Designs papers, stencils, molds, and wooden creations in your own way.

Our style may wander from romantic French Country to rustic Western and bohemian, but the heart of it stays the same: beautiful things with personality, history, and soul.

More than a studio journal

Creativity is even better when it's shared. Along the way, we'll introduce talented makers and furniture artists, gather ideas worth saving, and celebrate the work that goes into turning the ordinary into something memorable.

This journal is also a companion to Old Dame Designs Magazine, offering fresh stories, tutorials, and inspiration between printed issues.

I'm so glad you're here

Whether you're an experienced furniture artist, a curious beginner, or someone who simply loves vintage beauty, I hope this becomes a place you'll enjoy returning to.

So pull up a chair, explore a little, and make yourself at home. There is always another idea taking shape inside the Old Dame’s Studio.

With a love for old treasures and new possibilities,
Old Dame Designs
